Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway

Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway is located about 600m from Echigo Yuzawa Station and less than a 5 minute journey from NASPA New Otani. The top area is a ski resort in winter but it is also a great place to go in summer. You can escape the summer heat as well as enjoy the spectacular scenery. There is a flower and plant park area, walking courses and various activities for the family. There are also places to eat and drink.

Yuzawa Fishing Park

Yuzawa Fishing Park is located by the riverside about 10 minutes from NASPA New Otani. You can go without any gear and enjoy fishing in the natural river - and eating your catch too! The rainbow trout are a popular catch!

Leisure Pool Aurora

The Leisure Pool Aurora is a popular place to cool down in the summer months. There is a large water slider as well as a moving current pool. Aurora is a bout 10 minutes from NASPA New Otani.

Snow Country Museum

This interesting museum looks back at the history of Yuzawa town as well as describing lifestyles over the years… learn how people learned to live with the heavy winter snowfalls in the region. The museum is located on the main onsen road of Yuzawa, about 500m from Echigo Yuzawa Station and just a few minutes drive from NASPA.

Sake Museum ‘Ponshukan’

Located within Echigo Yuzawa Station, this area features many local sake brands. You can sample them too. There are also many interesting shops and restaurants in the same area of the station. Just a few minutes from NASPA.

Zuishoan Temple

This temple is located in the Tsuchitaru area of Yuzawa, close to the Yuzawa Fishing Park and about 10 minutes drive from NASPA. The Nio statues at the temple were carved by Unchou Ishikawa, an engraver who lived during the end of the Edo Perio and beginning of the Meiji Restoration.

Okutadami Lake & Dam

Okutadami is one of the largest man-made lakes in Japan and was formed at the time of the construction of the Okutadami Lake. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains rising to over 2000m and enjoys varying scenery in each of the seasons. Boat trips on the lake also available. Okutadami is located to the north of Yuzawa and about an 80 minutes drive from NASPA.

Untoan Temple

This temple is set in beautiful and peaceful surroundings and is well worth a visit at any time of the year. It is about 25 minutes drive from NASPA.

Bokushi Doori & Pongee Hall

Take a walk down the main road of Mikuni old trade road (Bokushi Doori) which is now the main road of Shiozawa town area. You can also visit the nearby Pongee Memorial Hall, a textile work shop, where you can learn about local crafts and the famous Shiozawa Tsumugi. Visitors can take part in various experiences at the hall. This area is about 25 minutes drive from NASPA.
